This documentation describes the HDF5-based file formats used to represent neuron, glia, spine, and vasculature morphologies.

The current and recommended morphology format is documented in HDF5 Version 1.4 Morphology Description. Start with that page for the format structure, datasets, and attributes.

The HDF5 Version 2 Morphology Description is retained for reference but is deprecated. The documentation also covers vasculature morphologies, merged HDF5 containers, and terminology used throughout the specifications.
